To The Beat...Ironman blog #2

Members of the Nak Pak start a special project to choose music and record inspirational messages for Bo to listen to as he competes in the Yukon Jack's Triathlon.  Choose three songs (with school appropriate lyrics - i.e. clean versions) with messages and beats that you think would be beneficial for a competing triathlete.  Place the links to the songs in your post and for each song write at least one paragraph explaining your reason for the choice.  3 songs = 3 paragraphs!

HINT - create this post in GoogleDocs and then copy it over to Blogger!

This is due by 10 PM on Tuesday, Sept. 17th

"This is War" This songs means a lot to me mostly because the memories I have attach to it. I think Bo would like it. He always thinks he has to fight everything that is in his life. This song kinda goes with that. It inspiring mostly do to the parts of the songs that talk about fighting back and not give up because some one told you too. It also talks about a new world that is full of peace, which I believe Bo will find with his anger management group.

"We Ready" is a huge pump up song for us football players. It explain it's self in the title. The song is about how you are ready for whatever you been working on to achieve. Bo would love this song, I would think. This song could help him realize that he is better then he thinks and boost his convince enough to help him win.

"Eye of the Tiger" classic song for all runners. If Bo does not work out to this song the he is not a true runner. Just talking about make you want to run and push your self. I could see Bo having the eye of the tiger by noticing that he won't back down. The song all so talks about the many challenges that beat the person down. Then then person gets up and fight back, that is how I picture Bo in his challenges that he has been though.

    1. I think you really thought a lot about the songs you chose. I really like your song choice #1 because of the determination. I agree he will not give up because someone told him too. He is very determined. For your other choice I liked that is was very upbeat and would help push him to be his best in the triathlon and showed him that hard work can pay off. I think you did a good job and picked songs that would encourage him and push him harder in the race.

  2. For my first song I chose We Ready by Archie Eversole. I couldn’t find any lyrics that were clean but I chose this song because it tells them that there ready and Bo is ready to take on a challenge with the Nat Pak. This song is kind of daring you in a way. It has a great beat to keep you going. This song really gets you pumped up.

Hell and Back By: Kid Ink
This song is kind of a slower song but also I love the beat. It tells us that we have been through some crap in our lives but we're back now and ready to go. This relates because those in the Nak Pak have been through some heck in their lives and this can get them going with the lyrics.
Go Hard : Lecrae Ft. Tedashii
This song gets you pumped to go hard or go home. I also like it cause it is a Christian song so God is behind you on what you do. He will get you through whatever as long as you lean on him. It just is basic that either you compete and give it your all or leave and don't try.

For my first choice I chose Since You've Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson. This beat is just so fast paced it will make you run faster to be with the beat. It will distract you from your surroundings and you will push yourself farther. I think this can also make him think of his dad no longer being there for him so it will probably make him mad and you seem to go farther mad or being upset. It will show Bo the freedom he has when he is out on his own training and not worrying about pleasing or making anyone else happy. This song should help him push farther and faster through the training and help him for his race.

    2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2pPJywRGTk
My second song choice is Gonna Make You Sweat by C&C Music Factory. This song is really upbeat and fast paced. I think this song would just help him move faster and run or bike harder. This song will just let him think whatever he wants and just have the upbeat song in the background. He should be able to work faster and run longer. I think he will just keep going with this song and it will make him keep going even farther. The song does not have much going on expect the fast pace for him to feel free and at ease.

    3.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5mZEG83Uz4
For my third choice I chose Stronger by Kanye West. This song has a really good beat to get you pumped up for running or biking. The beat will distract you from the hard work and encourage you to go farther and not to quit. It will show you that you are becoming stronger in your work and you will win against the other competitors. It will let Bo be better, faster, and stronger through his training so he can beat his competitors in the competition even with his dad helping the other guys. I think this is just an overall upbeat song to help with training.

    1. I think your song selection was pretty good. I'd defiantly work out and stuff to them.. If I did work out. Kelly clarksons song is a good song, but the lyrics aren't as much as a athleat kind do song. It's more of a well going beat kind of song. Kenya Wests song was a well choice. Not because of lyrics, once again, but because of the beat.

    2. I think you did a great job. I also liked your songs that you choose for Bo. Bo would like the songs you choose because it is a song that make you want to try to finish until your done. I believe that the songs are motivated for Bo for the race he is going to finish.

  4. 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4tjLZL7ENc Linkin Park - Bleed It Out
For my first choice I chose this song because it pumps me up before a football game. The beat keeps my mind focus and makes me keep a good pace for when I run. The words mean a lot to because it gets me pumped. The way the singer sings I like to. His voice it rough and there is some screaming in it also.

    2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-B8eG2njNY Eminem - Till I Collapse
This song is one of my top picks to listen to when I workout. This is an amazing song to work out too because of the words. This song talks about not giving up and to keep going hard until you can't go no more. Which is how you should workout. The name of the song is awesome because it is basically what the song is about. To push yourself till you collapse.

    3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4Uv_4jGgAM Eminem - Lose Yourself
This song is my 3rd choice because it has a lot of meaning behind it. I love this song because it tells me that you only have one shot at this so give it your all and don't lose it. This song goes along with the movie 8 mile. Its about a poor young man who got famous for his rapping skills. This song makes me think that this is my last year to play football so i need to do the very best I can.

    we ready- archie
I choose this song because we listen to it before every football game and it really gets you excited. This song explains that you're ready for whatever is in front of you. It always says that you can't and won't be stopped. It really makes you think that you're better than the person you're competing against.

    right above it- lil wayne
i choose this song because it talks about being at the top and that no one is above you and you're the champion. You know you're at the top when only heaven's right above it is the main chorus and it means a lot to any athlete before they go out and compete. This song really does a good job at getting it in your head that you are the best and no one out there is better than you or your team.

    White Washed- August Burns Red

This song would be a nice choice for an athlete to listen to before participating in an event. The songs entire meaning is about not allowing anybody to tell you what you should believe in. Or to look down upon yourself. Plus, the song is very heavy and gets me very pumped up before any basketball game. Or anything I do in that case. You’ve got to look to your personal preference.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVScnMeJoyw

Second and Sebring- Of MIce & Men.

The band, Of Mice & Men always makes great music for inspiration. This song was created by the lead singer for his mother who passed away when he was very young. It talks about not giving up and wanting to make that special person proud. It’s not always what it seems to be. The end is never the end. It’s just a window to a new beginning.

    Ohiosonfire- Of Mice & Men

This song is heavy and can do a great job at pumping somebody up for an event they are about to participate in. I listen to this song before every basketball game and it makes me feel like I can go the hardest I could possibly go. Heavy music does a great job at getting my energy going and adrenaline pumping. Maybe not for running, but for me, this song does it. Bo may need something else though. It may make him an angry panda.

  8. 1) “I Will Not Bow” by Breaking Benjamin
    (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qrRzNidzIc)

I chose this song because it has an upbeat tempo with a tinge of anger and determination in the lyrics. This will help Bo work harder and concentrate on his goals, while at the same time, ignoring the physical pain caused by the strenuous work out by channeling it into anger.

    2) “Nice Monsters and Scary Sprites” by SKRILLEX
    (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw)

This song would also be a good choice for Bo’s playlist because the rhythm is very repetitive and upbeat. Its entertaining but at the same time the techno and dubstep of it helps you lose your self when you’re pushing your body to its limits as Bo will in his work out.

    Here comes the boom (Nelly)

This would be a great song for Bo to listen to, The reason for that is because he explains how you have to push yourself hard to succeed. It is also explaining how no one wants anything to do with him because he is coming with the boom and everybody better watch out. That could motivate Bo to finish hard and be as strong as he possibly can. It could show that everyone better watch out because Bo’s coming with the boom.

    Heart of a Champion (Nelly)

This is another great one to listen to while competing. It would be a good one because it describes what you have to do in order to be a champion. He describes how he is going to fight until the end to win. It would be a good one because it talks about blood sweat and tears and thats what you have to have when you're competing in any type of sport. There is no way that anyone is going to stop Bo from competing in the triathlon.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jwZBqGPgVE

Don't worry be happy by (Bob Marley)

I think this would also be another great song to listen to before running. The reason is because it clears your mind and describes how you don’t need to worry just be happy. Bo needs to just not worry about anything else that is going on in his life besides running the triathlon. Once he clears his mind he can run really fast and maybe even win. Just don’t worry about what place you gonna finish and just be happy!

I Will Not Bow: by Breaking Benjamin - This song’s lyrics deals with how the singer will not let the world make him someone he isn’t. It also has a very quick and steady beat. Bo has to fight against the world of his father and teacher that doesn’t like the way he is. They try to break him into submitting. Bo also needs an upbeat rhythm to run to. Bo will have to face an enemy that has been trying to defeat him for a long time.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PIPfmHOJhg

Stand My Ground: by Within Temptation - This song is a lot like I Will Not Bow. It also deals with standing your ground in what you are and what you believe in. This song also talks a little about how if you don’t stand your ground someone else will. Bo has to stand his ground in his training, otherwise Wyrick will take his place as top dog. It also has a steady rhythm that isn’t too harsh. Bo has also stood his ground many times before.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uj_KUKzGY08

Deceiver of Fools: by Within Temptation - This song deals a lot with Bo’s father and Coach Redmond. I think that Bo would like this is because he could connect to it. It would give him the extra strength to run when he starts to think of them. It does have a good running rhythm as well. At one part of the song is tells about a place within that still burns no matter what. This song would give bo the extra push to keep going.

  11. I chose the song “Beat It,” composed by Michael Jackson. The beats of this song will definitely be beneficial to Bo when he competes in the triathlon. Even though the storyline of the song is based on is not specifically acquainted with motivation, it will get Bo’s adrenaline running and prep him for his activity. I think that this two word Beat it would give Bo even more motivation. Can help Bo be tough not give up no matter what. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Poqh_lt-53E

I selected the song “Eye of the tiger” Composed by Peterik Sullivan. This song will be beneficial to Bo in any competition. Based on this story of the song, it will get Bo pumped in challenger to the top. Would help Bo not gonna stop grip on his dream, must fight to keep them alive till dream come true to the finish line. This is very good inspirational messages for Bo to listen to as he competes.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEjgPh4SEmU

The another song i chosed is “impossible” composed by Shontelle. Bo needs to listen to this song as he competes in the Yukon Jack's Triathlon. The song is based on hope would be impossible and that can tells Bo that don't ever give up hope. When Bo listen to this song will give him faith, always do the best in Yukon Jack’s Triathlon. “Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done”.

Until the End - Breaking Benjamin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lYUwBLWGP0
    Headstrong - Trapt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzZ-M_4w9Fw

The first song, Set The World On Fire by Black Veil Brides, is a good song i think for someone who is training. It has a good rhythm to work to. Not only that, but the meaning behind this song is basically to stand strong. “Stronger than before, when your life becomes a war, Set The World On Fire.” The song says to not give in, and give everything 110%, which is what someone training for a triathlon needs to do.
The second song, Until The End by Breaking Benjamin I chose for a pretty similar reason. The song is saying that he will go on until the end. “Why give up? Why give in?” People training for triathlons need to be devoted to training and not give up. The song also has a good rhythm, and would be good to work out to.

The last song, Headstrong, by Trapt is a good one for people training in triathlons and working out. The title shows how athletes need to be, headstrong. That way they can push themselves, and work hard. “Back off I’ll take you on, Headstrong to take on anyone.” That line shows determination, and that they believe that they can and will be able to take on anyone and anything.

    1. I Can't Stop
I think the song I Can't Stop would beneficial for an ironman for a few reasons. This song is extremely repetitive and only has three words(I cant stop). However I personally think thats what makes it motivating. In a race such the ironman you have to be mentally tough enough to tell your body not to stop. What says that better then this song.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q9rewnLFYw

    2. Can't be touched
The song Can't be Touched is also good for training. The lyrics to this song can help build your confidence. Throughout the song it is constantly pretty saying how you can't be stopped. The lyrics make me feel like i'm unbeatable. Also it has an upbeat tempo which can help you to stay motivated.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0-lRk-JrNs

    3. Not Afraid
The song Not Afraid can also be used for training for a race. The song is saying that you're not afraid to take a stand. It also say that you will keep on no matter the weather. To me that means you won't let anything get in your way to win. In order to win anything you have to have that mentality. That is what the song is about so I think it would be beneficial.

  15. Stronger by Mandisa

I chose this song because Bo is going through rough stuff like family problems. I know this song well encourage him to go in his life and keep trying to succeed in his life. I choose this song but i went through rough times and this song made me not give up in your goals that you set in your life, like they say life is hard without God. My family is not perfect or always happy but you go through rough times like Bo in the book when he is trying to make it better with his day. How Bo and i want good things to happen but only bad things happen when you want only happens never the saddest times but life is not easy because there will be good times and bad times. How Bo is always never gives up in his training to be a Ironman.

    Fix You By Coldplay

I chose this song because it just touches my heart when i listened it the first time. This song is a good song for Bo because he doesn't know how much he can do in his life if tries to do the right thing with his dad.I chose this song because every time i try to do the right thing it just turns out to be the worst and then i think maybe i shouldn't of done that like Bo tried to get along with his dad.I cry when i hear someones life is worse than mine and i thank that.Bo wants to be yough again because his dad use to go fishing and thing like that but it is not like that no more when he is grown up. Faith keeps me going like the lights guides me home from the darkens as fo Bo is the anger management class which he calls it his family and the race he tries so hard.

    Good Feeling by Flo Rida

I choose this song because it has the beats that makes you want to run and not stop until you finish the the laps that you need to get. This song is also good for working out like i do and i keeps you from not quitting and after i finish the workout i say to myself i feel good now. This song is a motivate you to do the best you can and not look at the bad things you did in life. Have no fear in life just keep going i guess.

  16. PER DALTON C. - 1. CHORUS ( PHIL COLLINS) Song: In the air tonight
I can feel it, comin' in the air tonight, oh Lord
I've been waitin' for this moment, all my life, oh Lord
Can you feel it comin' in the air tonight, oh Lord?
    Oh Lord

I chose this song because it always puts that feeling in your stomach that something good is coming in the air. It makes you want to hang in there and find out what u are waiting for. It could be something good or something bad. I get the message that the lord knows what is coming for you and after u finish what you are doing you will find out what you have been competing for.

    2. CHORUS (JON YOUNG):Song: City I Love
This one right here is for the city i luv
For all my folkz in the o
On the block ridin chrome slammin big body do'z
I'm doin this thang for yall
Orange county up to seminole this fo my dawgz
    West orange county
    This for the 4 0 7
    The 4 0 7

I chose this song because this artist is standing up for his city that he believes in. You don't have to be standing up for a city. It makes me think and stand up for anything that i believe in. He sings this song for his friends’ family and everyone around him. Bo isnt only running it for himself he is running it for the people around him.

    3. CHORUS (BOB MARLEY) Song: Three Little Birds
    Rise up this mornin
    Smiled with the risin' sun
    Three little birds
    Pitch by my doorstep
    Singin' sweet songs
    Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin ("This is my message to you-ou-ou”)
Singin' "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
Cause every little thing gonna be all right."

I chose this song because its a classic song. The song explains itself. It says “ Dont worry about a thing”, Bo needs to not worry because everything will be okay. This song makes people feel like anything they do they will do the best they can at it, if they dont do it right its okay because everything will be aright.

I chose till I collapse by Eminem. It is a rap song that has inspiration. Its a perfect song for the playlist because it says in the song to never give up on your dreams and be strong. This song will keep Bo motivated to beat Ian Wyrick and also his father. The song says that even when you’re tired you can’t give up.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5sSwfF8PFA
This song was on never back down which is an inspirational movie so it fits to put it on this playlist. The title of the song says it all, Anthem for the Underdog. Which is what Bo is. He Is not picked to beat them he has to go against 3 kids while he only gets to use himself. This song says that if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything.

This song is a classic pump-up song. You have to have the eye of a tiger to complete a triathlon. This song made Rocky knock out that big Russian so if it worked for him I’m sure it will work for Bo competing in the race. You can’t listen to this song without wanting to go out and beat somebody at something.Just listening to this song my blood pressure sky-rockets and makes me want to get out there and bust something up. #compete
